We arrived later than expected in Rovinj due to boarder crossing that added 2 hours to our 3 hour drive. We settled into the apartment we were staying at with snacks, wine, and card games that night. Sunday we woke up and spent the morning on the beach! The walk from where we stayed to Cuvi Beach was approximately 5 minutes through the wood lined trail. We arrived to the beach which was quite in the morning without many people, just listening to the waves was nice. We enjoyed the sunshine, water, and rocky beach until around noon when we headed back to shower, eat lunch, and head out for the day.
Next stop in the small Croatia town of Poljanak, where we will stay one night since it is near Plitvice Lake National Park. This small farm town was quite with lovely views, and great outdoor seating. Although we enjoyed a great spread of local goat cheese, honey, and plum jam mixed with fresh nectarines, grapes, and breads while watching the Olympics and wine of course! We had a great evening relaxing before our early start tomorrow.
In the morning we wanted to arrive to the park early to beat the crowds and arrive back home at a decent time. The park opened at 0700 am and we arrived by 0730, there was a small line at the ticket booth, one day ticket 180 HRK (Kuna) per person and you do have to buy the park map at the tourist booth for 20 HRK (Kuna) prior to entering the park. There are well marked trails that are within the park, we decided on the 5-6 hour hike trail C that we completed in 4 hours. Gorgeous pictures while walking along the winding wooden trail that leads to waterfalls and emerald lakes. On the way back we walked along the upper ridge of the park within stunning aerial views of the lower lakes and waterfalls. The water was remarkably clear and sparkling emerald in color. Depending on the depth the colors of the water appeared different shades of blue and green. http://np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/en/
