2017 is off to a great start with a fun, snow filled ski weekend in Austria with Jeremy! Jeremy was off on Friday and went down early morning to Austria as I was getting up and ready for a day of work. He enjoyed a day on the slopes and checked in to the hotel in time for me to arrive that night. We are so lucky to have the Austrian Alps 3 hours from home. It was an easy drive for me, it was snowing the closer I arrived to the mountains. the snow continued all night making our first day on the slopes difficult with low visibility. We still enjoyed a full day skiing together with multiple stops to warm up and hope that visibility improved.
The next day of skiing was perfect. Blue skies and fresh snow. We were able to see the runs we went down the day before. The mountain and runs were drastically different. The ski welt is the largest ski area in Austria connecting multiple mountains and towns together within one large resort. The majority of the runs were blues and reds, which we enjoyed. Not many black runs. We had a great day skiing together.
We explored the small, quiet ski town of Soll that night. we loved that everything was so close and we could walk to everything from where we stayed in town. that night we had dinner reservations at Postwirt, which was very good and had a large variety menu including the regional specialties, Tirol dishes. We stumbled across an Irish pub that featured an IPA, which is hard to come by in Europe. They also had Connect Four and Jenga available, we played for hours while listening to live music. We enjoyed this bar so much we came back the next night. They again had live music and we needed a Jenga/ Connect four rematch. The next night we enjoyed a more American style menu with steaks and burgers at Auf da Muhle. We love our weekends together. We have been so lucky to check out multiple resorts and mountains in Austria.
